Shoulder Complaints

Shoulder Complaints

Shoulder problems can be very limiting and can significantly affect your daily activities. In many cases, the diagnosis of ‘bursitis’ or ‘tendonitis’ is made. Anti-inflammatory medication and injections usually have only a limited and temporary effect.

Causes

Bursitis or tendon inflammation is often a consequence, rather than the cause, of reduced shoulder function. Shoulder problems are often the result of:

✔ poor (work) posture
✔ repetitive activities
✔ overuse
✔ (sports) injuries
✔ dysfunction of the neck and upper back

Diagnosis and treatment:

After an initial thorough physical examination, with specific attention to the shoulder joint and shoulder girdle (including the neck), an ultrasound examination is usually also performed. Ultrasound is particularly well suited for examining tendons, joints and bursae. The assessment focuses on movement (dynamics), inflammation, osteoarthritis and tears.

The treatment consists of a combination of:

✔ Ultrasound-guided Percutaneous Therapeutic Electrolysis (EPTE)
✔ Shockwave therapy
✔ Exercise therapy
✔ Manipulative adjustments
