Fibromyalgia
Literally, fibromyalgia means pain in connective tissue and muscles.
Symptoms include
pain, stiffness, fatigue and sometimes mood swings. Gastrointestinal complaints such as IBS and Crohn’s disease may also be associated with this condition, and weather changes, cold, rain and frost can influence fibromyalgia. The severity of symptoms can vary.In the International Statistical Classification of the World Health Organization, fibromyalgia (FMS) is classified under MG30, which refers to chronic pain. As a result, fibromyalgia is also recognised in the Netherlands as a chronic pain condition.
Multidisciplinary treatment plan
To reduce symptoms and make life manageable and enjoyable, a multidisciplinary treatment plan is developed at our Vividus health centre. This means that the patient is first thoroughly assessed, after which a personalised treatment programme is prepared. An important factor in this process is the patient’s role and their willingness to actively participate and to make necessary lifestyle adjustments. Treatment methods may include massage, exercise therapy, chiropractic care, dietetics and mental coaching.
